The Taylor community has always taken pride in students and staff who step up to serve others, and this past weekend was another great example of that commitment.

On Sunday, May 31, Taylor Middle School Wrestling Head Coach Zach Fischesser, along with a dedicated group of wrestlers, coaches, and parents, volunteered at the Cincinnati Soap Box Derby held at Ault Park. From 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the team assisted drivers and their families by lifting derby cars on and off trailers throughout the day.

While it may sound like a simple task, these derby cars are surprisingly heavy. To ensure fair competition, each car is weighted so that the combined weight of the car and driver equals 200 pounds for younger racers and 250 pounds for older racers. Thanks to the strength, teamwork, and dedication of our volunteers, the event ran smoothly and allowed drivers and their families to focus on enjoying a memorable day of racing.

This marks the second consecutive year that Coach Fischesser and the Taylor wrestling family have volunteered at the event, continuing a tradition of service that reflects the values of our district and community.

As a result of their efforts, a contribution was made to the Taylor High School Athletic Boosters, helping support student-athletes and athletic programs throughout our district.

We are incredibly proud of Coach Fischesser, our wrestlers, coaches, and parents for representing Taylor with such dedication and community spirit. Their willingness to give their time and energy demonstrates that being part of a team means making a positive impact both on and off the mat.
