Posted on: April 23, 2024

The Three Rivers Local School District received the prestigious Auditor of State Award with Distinction for the second consecutive year. This recognition highlights the district's unwavering commitment to excellence in financial management and accountability, as less than 5% of public entities receive this award.

"We are delighted to receive the Auditor of State Award with Distinction for the second year running," expressed Teri Riesenberg, Treasurer of Three Rivers Local School District. "This accolade is a testament to the dedication and diligence of our staff, administration, and Board of Education. It reaffirms our mission to ensure the responsible stewardship of taxpayer funds and uphold the highest standards of financial integrity. Additionally, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to my team within the Treasurer’s Office; this award is a direct result of their steadfast attention to detail and professionalism."

To qualify for the award, the district underwent a rigorous financial audit administered by the Auditor of State's office. The award recognizes entities that meet specific criteria for financial reporting, including:

  • Filing financial reports with the Auditor of State’s office by the statutory due date, without extension, via the Hinkle System, on the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting basis, and preparing an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR);

  • Receiving an audit report devoid of findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Uniform Guidance (Single Audit) findings, or questioned costs, with the opinion dated within six (6) months of the entity’s year-end;

  • The management letter contained no comments related to ethics referrals, questioned costs less than the threshold per the Uniform Guidance, lack of timely annual financial report submission, bank reconciliation issues, failure to obtain a timely Single Audit in accordance with Uniform Guidance, findings for recovery less than $500, public meetings or public records issues, or any other financial or other concerns.

Three Rivers extends its sincere gratitude to the Auditor of State's office for this esteemed recognition.

The Three Rivers Local School District remains focused on its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity and transparency.
