Three Rivers Elementary Launches Honeycomb Crew to Build Student Leaders
Three Rivers Elementary is allowing fourth-grade students to step into leadership roles and make a meaningful difference in their school through a new initiative called Honeycomb Crew.
More than 50 fourth-grade students applied for one of six leadership positions, demonstrating their interest in serving their school and taking on new responsibilities. Through Honeycomb Crew, students are learning that leadership isn't simply about having a title—it is about serving others, taking initiative, being dependable, and making a positive impact on the people around them.
The six crews will each play an important role throughout the school year. Students may be seen creating inspirational posters through the Decorating Crew, writing notes of appreciation as part of the Appreciation Agents, helping keep cafeteria and playground equipment areas organized, welcoming students through the Greeting Crew, or sharing important information with their peers through the Announcing Crew during morning announcements.
“These opportunities allow our students to experience leadership in a very real and meaningful way,” said Three Rivers Elementary Teacher, Heather Douglas. “We want our students to understand that they have a voice, their contributions matter, and they can make a difference in their school community.”
Honeycomb Crew is designed to help students build confidence, communication skills, responsibility, teamwork, and a sense of ownership in their school. By giving students authentic opportunities to lead and serve, Three Rivers Elementary is helping develop not only successful students today, but future leaders for tomorrow.
The initiative is already making its mark throughout the building. Staff and students will soon begin seeing the work of the Honeycomb Crew in hallways, classrooms, and other spaces around campus.
