On March 8, 2022, Taylor High School English Teacher, Andrea Perry received a letter from Elizabeth Bookser Barkley, Ph.D., a Professor of English at Mount St. Joseph University sharing that Taylor High School had a student place in the recent high school writing contest.

Taylor High School Sophomore, Emerson Xie, received an Honorable Mention for her poem entitled Out of Reach. In the letter to Ms. Perry, it stated that “our judges were quite impressed with your students’ submissions.” Emerson and her family have been invited to an awards ceremony later in March with the other nine winners from Mount Notre Dame, Oldenburg Academy, Franklin County, Lebanon, and St. Xavier.

Emerson joins a history of Taylor students who have authored award-winning pieces, including Aiden Henkel and Andrew Nixon, both from the class of 2021, and Lee Garber-Ford, who is a member of this year's graduating class.

Emerson exemplifies the Three Rivers Local School District’s Strategic Plan pillar of Successful Students and she is congratulated for her accomplishment.
