As this website is being updated, the Taylor students are sitting in Clive 4, one of the biggest precincts in Iowa. It is standing room only and very exciting - more to follow. Apparently we are experiencing history in the making. There are so many people at the precinct to caucus that they will have to hold a split session. This perhaps could be the first time in Iowa's history that a split session has to be held to accomodate all the voters. Right now there are people who are getting up in front of the hundreds of caucus goers to sway the others to vote for their candidate. Since you cannot see the caucus, the Taylor students have been honored by being allowed to sit on the stage behind the speakers....what a great thing to see.
Voting Results from Clive 4 Precinct
Guiliani – 45
Huckabee - 78
McCain - 109
Paul - 22
Romney - 179
Thompson - 48
Hunter - 0

Thursday - Check out 700WLW at 3:30pm for a LIVE interview with Taylor students from Iowa.
Also, Channel 9 news will be interviewing students via phone for broadcast later today.
The Enquirer will also be doing an interview from Iowa.
Barack & Mitt! That is who the Taylor HS students spent Wednesday night with. After a whirlwind day, the students loaded the bus again to go to Mitt Romney's rally before heading cross town to end the night at the jam packed rally for Barack Obama. Once again the students were energetic and very articulate, which lured press from the far reaches of the world. The students had interviews tonight for a Swedish Newspaper, the Public Broadcasting Company, Cosmopolitan Girl Magazine, and will be shown on National TV tomorrow morning, Thursday, January 3, on ABC Family Channel during the 10am hour. This is all in addition to the great story on NBC, channel 5 in Cincinnati and being contacted today by both the Enquirer Hometown and Western Hills Press. Whew....can life be any better for this group from Taylor High School? Below are some photos from tonight.

Wednesday morning saw the Taylor High students leave early for a grand tour of the Iowa State Capitol. After the tour the students attended the Des Moines civic center that features a museum on the history of the Iowa Caucus system. To round out the afternoon students attended a very informative class at the Iowa State Republican Headquarters.
We are looking forward to attending a rally for Mitt Romney
before heading to a late night rally for Barack Obama. Check back for our late night podcast!

Tuesday was an incredible day in Iowa. The Taylor students attended a rally for Mike Huckabee and some incredible things happened...see pictures below. Mike Huckabee told Taylor teacher, Mike Voynovich, "Thanks for bringing the students to Iowa, it is a great thing to see the students witness Democracy in progress." Our students were interviewed by the Italian National News, the BBC, and IFC.

The advanced placement Government and Politics Class & advanced placement US History Class left Taylor High School on Monday morning at 7:13am and arrived in Des Moines around 5pm. At 9pm the students and chaperones went to downtown Des Moines to attend a rally/New Years eve party for Hillary Clinton. Our students were less than 20 feet from Senator Clinton and many received autographs and photographs of Mrs. Clinton, President Clinton, and Chelsea Clinton. We'll see what exciting things tomorrow brings.
Check back often for updates!
